What To Do In The Event Of An Accident

FOLLOW OUR SIMPLE GUIDE AND SAVE TIME AND TROUBLE LATER

If you are in an accident stop immediately and give whatever assistance you can to anyone injured. If anyone is injured, the driver must report the accident to the Police, as soon as possible within 48 hours. If no one has been injured you must give your name and address to the owner or driver of any other vehicle damaged and to the owner of any property damaged. If you don't know the name of the driver or owner, you must report the accident to the Police within 48 hours. From an insurance point of view, there are some simple things you can do which greatly speed the handling of your claim and make it much more straightforward.

WHAT NOT TO SAY

"Do not admit liability, even if you think you may have been to blame doing so could invalidate your insurance claim"

"And do not offer payment for damage caused"

FACTS TO RECORD

Make sure you get full details of the incident. Download our checklist and keep one in your glove box!

Remember to check road names and features so you can make a rough sketch of the scene. If anyone refuses to give essential information, make a note of their registration number and report the matter to the police. And call the police immediately if you suspect that any driver involved has been drinking.

YOUR INSURANCE
